General Information

Building On the Past, Planning For the Future

J.E. Yost, the first president of Pikeville National Bank, was a man of vision. He knew that if a bank emphasized service to individuals and the community, it would earn and keep the trust of its customers.
When Mr. Yost opened the doors of Pikeville National in 1903, it was housed in a rented storefront with total resources of only $25,000--a far cry from today's $1.75 billion in corporate assets.
While banking was vastly different in those days, the philosophy upon which Pikeville National was founded still rings true today. In fact, one of the bank's original goals--"service to the community and customers"--is echoed in today's mission of providing uncompromising quality in personalized service.
As Community Trust, we will continue to serve farmers, miners, merchants, homebuyers--the same individuals whose solid values and strong work ethic have made our communities such good places to live and raise families. The difference will be our ability to offer even more to our customers--more products, more services, more of the financial options they need and expect.

A Pattern Of Planned Growth

Since its founding, our organization has established a pattern of growing to meet the needs of the community--a practice that is still followed today.
Although we've been steadily adding affiliates and branches for more than 50 years, most of our customers would probably be surprised to learn that ours is one of the largest banking companies based in Kentucky. That's because to them--no matter how much we grow--we're still their hometown bank, offering friendly, personal service they've come to trust.
Now, as we look toward to the beginning of a new century, it is an appropriate time to make yet another change. The name Pikeville National no longer reflects who we are and in fact, that has been true for some time.
Since we gained our first affiliate in Whitesburg, we have been much more than a Pikeville bank. We're a Middlesboro bank, a Lexington bank, a Flemingsburg bank and more. The organization that began in a Pikeville storefront now stretches throughout central and eastern Kentucky, yet each of those banks offers customers the same hometown personal service that our first customer received back in 1903.
In each area we serve, we've worked hard to earn the trust of the community. Our new name, Community Trust, reflects who we are today and the foundation for our continued growth.

Modern Banking With Old-Fashioned Values

As we've moved throughout the industrial age into the information age, our lives and those of our customers have become increasingly complicated. We never had such a wide array of products and services from which to choose and in the financial arena those choices continue to grow at a rapid pace.
Community Trust will continue to be at the forefront of the banking industry, breaking ground with new products to make our customers' lives more convenient and help their money work harder for them. We're growing to meet the needs of the community--something we've always done.
Early in our history, we served as a depository and a lender. Today, as a more aggressive sales organization, we have expanded our foundation of services to include trust officers, brokers, investment managers and much more. New selling tools such as indirect lending are continuing to help us increase customer base and find new ways to work with valued community partners.
Even as the role we play in the community and in the lives of our customers has expanded, so has the need to provide the finest in customer service. As Community Trust, we will continue advancing our goal of broadening sales and customer service.
As an organization and as individuals, our goal will be to know our customers, understand their needs, and meet--even exceed--those needs in every respect.
Throughout our history, our hallmark service has helped us grow and prosper. By becoming Community Trust, we are not abandoning the traits that have made us successful. We are rededicating ourselves to being a consumer-driven organization, providing our customers with a wide array of financial options without losing the personal attention they expect from a local financial partner.

A Legacy Of Trust

"Safety - Silence - Service," the original slogan of Pikeville National Bank, continues to be relevant in today's world.
Through all the changes of the past century, we have steadfastly maintained our commitment to be prudent stewards of the funds entrusted to us, to maintain the confidentiality our customers deserve and to provide the ultimate in service to each individual customer and to the communities we serve.
Change is nothing new for our organization. We've been changing and growing since the first customer walked through the door in 1903. Each change has been careful, thoughtful and designed with one goal in mind: to provide even better service for our customers and increased shareholder value.
Our new name, Community Trust, was chosen by our own employees. It reflects our past and it signals our ambitious goals for the future.
We're proud of our legacy of service to the people of Kentucky. We're proud that we're the bank people choose when they want modern banking conveniences with a perosnal touch.
And we're especially proud to have earned the right to call ourselves... ...Community Trust.
